I was in charge of making a combination Mother’s Day and Birthday cake for a family get together today. A few weeks ago I went looking for some inspiration for my cake creation. I found a picture of a cute cupcake pull apart cake on Flickr and decided it would be perfect.

Not only did this turn out really nice, it was ridiculously easy to make! Just make a batch of 24 cupcakes in your favorite flavor. Once the cupcakes are cooled, ice three of them in yellow or brown and frost the rest of the cupcakes in pink, or your favorite color.

Arrange the cupcakes on a large tray. Make the flowers by placing a cupcake as a center and then arranging 6 cupcakes around the center. Make two more flowers in the same way. Add sprinkles and accent icing as desired.
